Sup guys, im about to go for changing out my ignition switch when it comes in on friday and i had some questions.

I can see the way it is screwed in and all but the wiring goes straight into the headlight, this is most likely a dumb question but how would i go about changing out without messing anything up?

the thing about my bike is that a lot of the wires seem to just be hanging, major rig job but the ones into the headlight seem to be alright i just need to know how to get in there properly without breaking anything.

my bike is an 82 maxim xj650

edit:: looks like as i submitted this my new switch and petcock rebuild kid showed up at the front door so i will be digging into this thing tomorrow morning, any help is appreciated thanks!

Despite the fact that ALL the Wiiring is Color-coded, ... and ...
The Male & Female Connections to Multi-wire Harness Hook-up's All different, ...

You still have to get in to the Ignition Switch and remove it.

    A Roll of Masking Tape.
    A Fine-line SHARPIE
    Scissors
    Take your time.

Label what you have to unhook to take the Headlight Bucket out-of-the-way.
To remove it, ... you have to Thread the Connectors through the Holes in the bottom of the Bucket.

Make a Drawing how the Harnesses are run up to, ... and into the Bucket.

Once the Headlight Bucket is out of the way, ... you will be able to access the Ignition Switch.

Since the Headlight Bucket is off, ... and---
The Wire and Connectors all exposed ...

This is the time to do any restoration and painting of the Bucket.
    Shoot the Connectors with Contact-ReNu.
    Emery Board Bullet-ends.
    Micro-roll 400 into Barrel Ends.
