I have an '85 XJ700 that I bought new. Got about 18,000 mi on it. Darn gas tank got so rusty inside it's been causing problems. Just got done doing the KREEM process to it. That stuff is pretty sweet. Gonna tear into the carbs next and clean them up. Got a leaky seal in one of the front shocks, got a leak in one of the front break calipers. Gonna work on them next. Gonna replace the liquid filled battery with a ABM (sealed) battery. I hear they charge better and last longer.

Anyway, thats the story and sure like reading all the posts.

    Welcome, and Howdy back atchya!

I wonder how many members actually bought their XJ new and kept it? You may be in the minority.

I know nothing about the sealed batteries. Let us know how that works for you.

And post some pics if you can. We wanna see!!! :D

Welcome Colman, and congrats on the buy! Are you sure the caliper is leaking? The reason I ask is that when the fork seals leak, the oil has a habit of migrating down to the caliper, making it appear that it too may be leaking. Just something to check out. Enjoy....
