    This is my Xj550 build
    14923995_10154291012543509_1340971799_o.jpg

Its a different style than most, and progress is more or less going good. One more bridge i'm at is the tank.
Currently as seen above, the XJ tank is a bit wide and doesn't tear drop at the back. the way it ends will leave a lot to be desired for aesthetics. Below i pictured two pictures of finished bikes similar to the style I'm looking to build. The all seem to bullnose down and end cleanly.

I know we are very much limited due to our triple backbone, but is their any tanks that may fit these parameters, even if i have to modify them a bit(and obviously mounting points). I can in good judgement finish with the maxim tank. I really wanted to keep the stock tank but I dont think it will flow nicely with the look im going with.

Thanks in advance for any tips or advice.

The tank pictured looks like it is from a Virago 250, but could be from a 535 as the 535 had more than one style of tank. You're going to end up with the same fitment issue as any other tank; tunnel width and depth. Prepare to become a fabricator.

You're right, its an xv250 tank, after more research. It looks like a very wide tunnel and uses the same style front mounting. too me, it looks like their would be a decent amount of room to work with. any thoughts?

Length and depth. You'll need to cut. It is probably a good starting point though.

Posted on a virago forum, hopefully I can get some measurements to see just how far off things are.

Looks like the tunnel length is 18 inches, from tip to tail. Between the two mounting tabs is 4.5 inches. Opens to ~5 more or less

well.. looks like i'll be fabricating a bit. I purchased an xv250 tank at a good deal.

s-l1600.jpg Its rust and dent free for a decent score. If it looks like it's not going to work, I should be able to recoup the cost on a flip.

This is a comparison of the xv250 to the xj550 tank. It looks about as promising as any starting point for our tanks. I'll keep you guys posted.

Just trying to finish out this thread with some "mid end" results. Here's the tank sitting on the frame.

I will try and update more on my main build thread which can be found here .
