Has anyone used an inline petcock for their XJ?

I have a '85 XJ700 with a custom bobber gas tank that is only 2.2 gallons. Needless to say I need to use all that gas, but the petcock is in the middle of the tank and I miss out on the last 0.5 gallons becasue of the slope of the tank.

My thought is to put a nipple on the bottom of the tank, run a little hose, then an inline petcock, some more hose and then a "Y" to join it up with the current gas line. I could turn off the main petcock and turn on the inline petcock when I want to use the last bit of the gas tank.

All the inline petcocks that I can find are over $100 (Pingel Engineering), or they say that they aren't rated for over 200cc (Motion Pro). Does anyone know of a $25 or less inline petcock that would work for my bike?

You can get a plastic one from any lawn equipment store to put inline (Briggs and Straton brand I believe) I have one on my other bike as the petcock doesn't always work like it should.
