    Hey gang -

xj550 Max getting new Carb Holders.

WHAT is the BEST METHOD e.g. better way; to use when installing NEW carb holders so they won't leak?
"Goop" - er Silicone: or No goop. New Gaskets or no gaskets?

Pic is what I found when removing the old manifold.

+1 that you got the screws out without breaking any. I would use NEW gaskets, High-Tack spray gasket on both sides since they won't need to be removed again for a long time if ever. RTV has its applications but that certainly ain't one of them.

If you got all those Original Cap Screws out ... without breaking any ... do yourself a BIG favor.
    Get rid of them!
Replace them with Stainless or a quality HARDENED Cap Screw.
    Treat the Head.
Get a tube of Permatex AntiSeize Compound and treat the threads wiath some in every hole.
Put a dab of the stuff in the Head and screw-in a Bolt to spread it on to the threads. Don't fail to do this.

If the Manifolds have O-rings -- Replace the O-rings.
Get one out and have it matched-up with a replacement at a Plumbing Supply Store or Hardware Store.
The O-Ring is a Standard Size. Metric. Four NEW ones at a Plumbing Shop is going to run you less than 3-Bucks.
4-New ones at the Dealer is going to make you go blind.
Get them at the Hardware or Plumbing Shop.

Treat the Manifold and Head with a reliable sealant.
You want an Air Tight Seal. Be sure the Head and Manifold will make a tight Seal.

You're lucky to have had the Cap Screws come-out without disaster.
    Get rid of them.
Hate them for being cheap and substandard and don't re-use them.
    New Fasteners.
    AntiSeize
    You'll be Golden.
