Hi All, I’m new to working on bikes and was wondering if someone could help me. Could be a dumb question so bear with me.

I have an 80 xj650 and one of my intake manifold boots needs to be replaced. I’m having trouble sourcing a replacement locally and online they all say for 81.

Will an 81 fit on the 80?

    Thanks for the help!

    Yes, they should.

Here's a trick - there are several parts sites, in this case Partzilla, where you can look up parts and part numbers. Then when you click on a part, it will tell you what other bikes it goes on, so it makes it easy to confirm that it is the same part on both: https://www.partzilla.com/catalog/yamaha/motorcycle/1980/xj650-xj650g/intake

Another recommendation: **highly recommended**: Get your stuff from Len at xj4ever.com - a.k.a @chacal. This will eliminate the guesswork. http://xj4ever.com/catalog/c.html

What bike exactly? Got a pic of the motor? The 650s had a couple different layouts for intakes and can vary in the same year (82 Maxim 650 with YICS vs. 82 Seca 650 No YICS). It should be the one Dan shared but we’ve seen 650s swapped from one style to another so a pic would help.

It’s a Maxim with the correct style engine.

1980 and 1981 xj650 maxims (as shown) all are non-YICS (as shown), so all 8 boots are the same.
