    I am starting to put my bike back together, I bought a set of Intake boots (part between the cards and the motor). Know that I am fitting my carbs back in it seems like the carbs will not line up with the holes from the intake boots. I bought the boots is it possible that they are not the right ones? Or do they go in a certain order.

    //\\ That is the way the bolt pattern is aligned on the heads.

    Help

    I'm surprised you haven't received any responses but
    I think one of the reasons you aren't hearing any replies is that from what I've read here, most guys "make do" with whatever shape their boots are in for fear of shearing off the bolts holding them on. So they apply silicon and other "tube repairs" to what they have.

    Do you have a manual? If not, pm me and I'll hook you up. Another suggestion is to go to bike bandit or similar and look at the parts diagrams. You could have the wrong parts or also very likely, you are lining up the wrong boots on the wrong carb locations.

    I agree - check with a straight edge or ruler
    If you bought the wrong boots, 2 are wrong, 2 are right.

    The "angle" of orientation of the intake boots is different between the YICS and non-YICS 650 motors.

    One style goes //\\ and one goes \\\\ (or it might be ////, I don't remember.) I also don't remember which pattern is which YICS-non YICS.

    It sounds like you bought the wrong boots for your motor.

    YICS is //\\. If you did get the reverse ones \\\\, then the first two will end up having the intake ports down at an angle instead of stright up. My PO had it that way. I just use a longer vacuum tube from NR 2 cylinder to go to my petcock, that way syncing is easier, as the only real problem with that setup is getting to the NR 2 vacuum port.

    The \\\\ is from 80-81 xj650s...maybe other models but I don't think so.

    Most Intake Manifolds are configued:

    :::::: HEAD ::::::
    ______________
    =>\\-||~||-//<=

    Set them on a Level and Rotate them.
    You'll see the Bias.

    Same for the Airbox Boots. But more subtle.
