Is bike overcharging new battery or acceptable tolerance?

    * I replaced my dead/frozen/shot battery with a Shorai LFX14A5-BS12 Lithium Iron battery (Yes I know the polarity location is not stock).

    * I accidently drained it leaving my radio & amp on. I charged it with the Shorai SHO-BMS01 charger.

    * I found my multimeter (with battery testing option) and started checking voltage before/after riding to work, when I arrive and before I leave.

    * I replaced my alternator brushes last fall/winter and am expecting good/proper charging this year.

    At the moment my ride to work is about 20 minute/15 country miles (55-70 mph 5500-6500 rpm). After the ride my battery has been reading 14.0 to 14.5. This morning the battery was 13.5. I believe the first reading after charging the battery was like 13.0.

    I know battery voltages vary, but other than keep checking my voltage how do I know that my charging system is not OVERCHARGING the battery??? I'm concerned because of the COST of the new battery and future longer distance weekend rides...

    You are fine.

    Normal charging is: +14.2 ~ +14.8 Volts @ (2K)* rpm's and above.

    With +14.5 Volts @ (2000)* revs shown as perfect in the Book.

    ::: Fabricate a "Flap" out of Rubber Inner-tube and cover the POSITIVE Battery Terminal -- or -- Cover the FRAME it there is a place where the POSITIVE Terminal is especially close to the Tubing when the Battery is moved. :::

    * Approx.

    Thanks for info before I sleep. :)

    I'll have to grab a chunk of rubber from work. Good tip.

    Fyi my new battery is SO lightweight!

    Double check that Battery's specs.

    Make sure it has the Reserve needed to power the Bikes system.

    Don't trust the guy selling Batteries to get it right.
