Is it true that new plug wires cannot be installed on the maxim x I just purchased without replacing the stock coils? Today I was shopping around online for some new plug wires for my bike, speaking with an MDS rep about applications and fitment of new plug wires, he tells me that my wires are built into the stock coils and in order to change the wires I would have to replace the stock coils. Is this true? cant I keep my stock coils and just replace the plug wires?

That's a good link, but the short answer is No - not nicely.

You can replace the wires on the stock coils but it requires modification of the coils to do it.

You'll be MUCH better off getting a new set of Dyna's or Accel's -- you get to replace your own wires, and you get better and more reliable sparks.

Accel part #140403 -- 2 coil dual output kit, non-CDI, 3 ohm primary resistance.
Dyna part #DC1-1 -- 2 coil dual output kit, non-CDI, 3 ohm primary resistance

If these are not to costly I may replace mine.

Im tired of riding a "dog" and its time to spend some money to make it better or just buy another bike.

Option #2 sounds good, just cant find a good v max close by for the right price :(
