    Hello everyone,

I just got my hands on a great 750 seca. As I was tearing down the bike and doing some maintenance, I noticed a small oil radiator that is zip tied to the frame but also rests on tiny mounts welded to the front of the frame. I can't find anything about it in my shop manual so I was wondering if this radiator was a common modification. If so, how much extra oil should I put in when I change it?

Thanks for any help, this is my first post (ill do an intro one also).

I'm seriously impressed by the wealth of knowledge here and I looking forward to lurking around the forum.

    Mike

My '81 came with the "TURBO 650" size radiator and a custom made aluminum plate.
    There's also a "900" size radiator.

    Welcome to the site !!

Extra oil is around 6 OZ - fill to almost the top of the glass.
Throw a couple magnets on your oil filter.

The USA-market 750 Seca did not come equipped with an oil cooler. You've got some sort of "aftermarket solution" there.

I have a 900's Oil Cooler package on my 750.
    The Cooler and Lines fit.
    Had to relocate Horns.
The captive fittings for Horns anchors lower shock-mounts.
Cooler's Center Post fits OEM Braze-on Mount.

A PVC Plumbing Reducer anchors the Top of the Cooler; its wide ID fitting the Cooler Post. The narrow end of the Reducer presses into the Factory Mount.

The Holes all line-up for a simplified install.
But, if not lowered needing the Top-Post Mod, the Cooler interferes with the Steering.

There you go. And us 550 guys can use one from an XJ600. But it sounds like OP's situation is less than "factory."

FroggyMike can you get us a picture or five? Including whatever was done at the bottom (probably off an adapter behind the oil filter) so we can give you some practical advice?

Thanks for all the answers. Bigfitz i'll get those pics for you tomorrow. Since I have your attention i'm gonna slip in another question: I just finished cleaning out the carbs because the bike was having trouble idling. How many times, starting from completely closed, should I turn the air jets at roughly sea level altitude? Right now I have them at two and a half turns.

Two and a half is a good starting point; you can leave them there until after you've done your vac sync.

Be sure your valve clearances are in spec and your float levels precisely wet-set before trying to sync.
