You know a new paint job won't always be new. Put a chip in it already. :( It's far from a professional paint job but it's still irritates me that I did it by just plain old not paying attention. I lifted the tank with the handle bars turned and it hit the little black cover that's under the bar. Damn.

I'm going to try and dab at it with a small brush to see if it will hide a bit. In reality it wouldn't be a huge deal to strip if and repaint it, just a bit time consuming. But what really blows is I would have to remove the new emblems I put on. So I won't be doing that.

For something this small, I like to use a flat tooth pick with the end smashed to create a very small brush.

    Yeah, That sucks man.

This is exactly why I don't worry about "fixing" cosmetic issues. I scrub the grime away and cover any exposed bare steel. Then I don't cry when I ding my "Pretty".

    Chrome don't get ya home.

It'd be different if I ever bought anything close to new I suppose.

Try a trick from the old miniature painting days: take a small brush and make it smaller by cutting most of the bristles off. Paint the center of the chip almost all the way to each edge but not completely. After it dries water down the paint by about half and fill in the gap. It should level off perfectly between the old paint and new, so you don't have to sand and clearcoat the whole thing.

Ah well at least it takes the edge off, you'll have to find something else to worry about now.
I know exactly how you feel though, especially when the only person to blame is yourself.

This gives you the excuse to rub it down & paint it properly.

get a 'bullet hole' sticker and put it on. It would look AWESOME. I have one on the side of the airbox on my xj700 and I get SO many comments on it..........especially after people get done laughing and wipe their eyes.

There are a couple different sizes available.......I have one size that is about 1 1/4" diameter, and another that is only about 3/4" diameter. I have the smaller one on my airbox.
