Working on a lean condition for a 82 XJ650 and looking for a little input on the jet sizes. Currently most everything is still stock minus the mufflers which are from a sportster (collector is still in place). Valves are in spec, carbs have been gone over twice to be sure they were clean, benchsynced, vac synced and all that. Everything overall runs well and idles great. No apparent loss of power in any gear or rpm band.

Only thing to note specifically is the main/pilot jets are 112/43.

As for 5k rpm plug chops they are quite white with just a small amount of browning/graying on less than half the plugs. Sorry I dont have a picture available, I can add one later. I have been increasing the pilot screws and am now at 5 turms with no change in plug color.

So what I seem to be left with is either an air leak or needing a larger jet. Given everything is basically stock besides the muffler would the current jet sizes be right or should I jump the main up a size or two? Or should these jet sizes be ok and I should look for some mysterious air leak instead?
