Pretty sweet, but not 107K sweet. Big reality distortion field there.

That's a tricked out bike, but not sure it's worth that kind of money?

    It sold....therefore it is. :)

Not my cup of tea though

Not worth nearly that much, bid up by idiots with more money than they know what to do with. This is often seen in numismatics community also.

Seriously. Why it matters to us is that it's a 1980's Jap four-cylinder. Granted, an extremely rare, limited-edition racing bike, but it's still an '80s UJM.

My point being, it's NOT an old factory racing Honda, or KR's TZ, or a Vincent Black Shadow. It's a JAP FOUR!

    Our time is slowly approaching.

Your welcome. All Yamaha fans should definitely appreciate a bike like that.

I rode an actual TZ750 race bike (roadracer) for exactly one lap around Grattan raceway (Michigan) back in the day. The wheelspin thing wasn't limited to the dirt track bike, the throttle was basically an on/off switch and it really wanted to just reach for the sky as soon as it grabbed. And it accelerated so quickly you barely have time to shift before you have to do it again and the scenery is coming up at a frightening clip...

WAY beyond my club-racer "pay grade." Scared the living bejeezus out of me, quite honestly. One lap was enough.

I remember when that whole KR on the TZ flat-tracker thing happened, and it created quite a furor in the dirt track world, believe me. Kind of like with Andy Granatelli and the STP Turbine car at Indy. QUICKLY legislated out of competition.

All of us bike nuts were in stunned awe.

So then King Kenny went from hero to minor diety in one race. All of this before he even went to Europe and showed them how to road race. Anyone not familiar with KR's career should do some reading. He ranks right up there with Hailwood, Agostini, Nuvolari and even John Surtees as one of the all-time great motorcycle road racers. Some say he was even better than those icons of the sport.

Yea, Kenny's one of those racers that had (has) gobs of natural talent that propelled him to the top.

And even he said "They don't pay me enough to ride this thing".

You should have read the interviews in Cycle News with Beauchamp, Keener and Springsteen (the Harley "wrecking crew") who he blew past on the last lap to win at Indy. Talk of hearing it coming from behind them, something about an ungawdly howl IIRC, over the roar of their HD XR750s. The thing was truly a monster.

Like I said, all of us who rode anything other than Harleys were simply in awe.

Hold on - some time in the '70's he raced THE WHOLE SEASON on the back wheel !! Accelerating out of corners in a wheelie didn't waste the power to spin-up the front wheel, and it intimidated his rivals, or so the story goes.

Kenny stopped dirt-tracking and went to Europe in '78 where he introduced the "GP Establishment" to hanging off and throttle steering, both of which simply weren't done at the time.

this has a few things that kind of stink.
    read the questions.
can i fly there to look at it........no......?
i'm in England, can i bid?..........no..... you must live in the US.....?
why is on ebay in AU then?
think he ever sold it or did his buddy just run the bid up ?
the last thing he sold was in 19-Apr-10.......then no feedback for a 107k bike ?

I agree with you on most of your points, Polock. But as for location, it says item is located in Wyoming, Il. Not sure about the AU currency designation. Maybe the winner was from Australia. But that doesn't jive either. He said only U.S. residents.
