The gift that keeps on giving or taking from my wallet. Threw another surprise.

The fuel valve leaks when changing selections.
It leaks about a tablespoon when you move it from pri, res or on. In any direction. Outside that it seems the petcock does it's job

Any easy fixes for this? I am not in the mood to buy a new one I am also quickly running out of ambition and money on rebuilding stuff for this bike.

Get the rebuild kit. It's not that much, and it's not that involved. Basically, a diaphragm, a washer, and a spring.

There is a rubber disc with 5 holes behind the selector lever (I think the fiche calls it "valve"). Those wear and leak. Sounds like yours is about gone.

While it is included in the rebuild kit you can buy separately.

Yah you can rebuild the O.E. Petcock or you can do what I did, use one off a YZ125/250...

The petcock off a 94-98 YZ fits the tank perfect. I had to knock about 3/16" off the short side of the knob to clear the gas tank seam, but its aluminum and goes quick.

I had one layin around from my race bike but my dealer even had one in stock for $23.00...

Yah I lose my shot glass reserve but I gain the ability to positively shut it off and no need for a vacuum line anymore. I was raised to always shut the fuel off so i prefer the YZ part...

    Good luck.
