    First some background,

My blinkers stopped working the other day and I was able to trace the issue back to some broken solder joints on the little bar with the three wires. I pulled the entire assembly apart, resoldered everything, but when I tried to fit it back into the slot the black plastic piece broke, darn.

Before that I pulled apart the thing to borrow the horn button for my starter. (I know, I know probably not the smartes thing to not have a horn but in a pinch I probably wouldn't get to it fast enough anyway). I figure at this point the easiest thing would be to replace the entire assembly, which brings me to my question...

I began looking around ebay and found several cheap assembly's from Seca's, 750 Maxims, Newer Maxim's, ect... The ones I found that matched exactly weren't quite as affordable. Are the plugs pretty much the same for most of the 80-84 gen Yamaha's? Could I retrofit them if not? I also kinda like some of the left controls for other Yamaha's better than what I have currently.
Any guidance anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated.

    OH, BTW...I have an 81 XJ650H

As long as the controls/switches fit the 7/8 bar you can use just about any of them. You may however need to replace the connector to get the wiring attached to the stock harness. You can get the correct connector pieces from XJ4ever.
