I have 82 750 Maxim and Seca left side covers, but the 650 is probably different?

...and it's no help at all! If even Dave can't find 'em, what are the odds?

PS I found a right side one for my Seca on the first try... and then sold it along with the bike. Kept the old busted one as a memento. Don't tell the new owner!

problem with 3 d printing is many of the printers most can afford are not big enough to do sidecovers.
there is a thread I think it was one from baldwonder on doing it

if one had a sample you could possibly cast a mold and fab up a few covers

Exactly, XJ550H, I'd definitely recommend making a mold from an existing cover (even a broken one). clean up the mold and then make your new part. You could even do a fiberglass layup in the mold if that's what you wanted, though you'd probably want a more rigid mold for doing a glass layup vs pouring resin.

One you make a good mold the subsequent ones are guick and easy to make.

    I'm mid-build on a 3D printer with a 12"x8"x12" build area.

But even then, I'm dubious. I mean, you could certainly print covers, finish with Bondo and paint, get a good result... But I dunno, it'd be a lot of work and time per cover. Be worth it if you really wanted a stock-alike cover, but I wouldn't want to make lots. If you had a lot of free time though...

I built a printer w/ 220x220mm build platform and I can say that the large, or more complicated parts take a long time, like more than a day. Then, there's the finishing work.

Yeah, that's what I'm saying. It'd be a long time printing, then a ton of finishing work if you wanted it to look stock.

Not to mention the real joy of large prints: just before it's done, something goes sideways and ruins the print. Good times.

I mean, you could do it, and if you wanted one badly enough it'd be worthwhile, but I wouldn't consider making them to sell.

A year or two ago, someone here fabbed side covers out of black abs plastic panels glued together... turned out excellent. I wish I had saved the links.
