    Well....Crap!

My first carb rebuild/cleaning project. I was wiping down the #1 carb slide and friggin' dropped it on the cement floor. :x It landed just right (wrong) and now the diaphragm is torn. Damn these stubby digits!

Is liquid tape going to fix this?

Good chance the slide is bent too. I'd try and make sure it drops before worrying about the diaphragm.

I've already proved that it drops...straight to the floor!

Seriously though, it slides well. Definitely passes the clunk test. It has a light dent on the bottom edge of the slide, but it moves freely in the bore.

    :?: Bump.

Has anyone successfully repaired a small tear like this? How long would a liquid tape repair last?

I have a couple coats of liquid tape on both sides of the tear. It looks good, but, I'm wondering if it's going to last.

I've never done this repair but, there are several threads on it already.
IIRC people have used innnertube glued on and liquid tape, do a quick search, there were several other fixes too.

    Don_A,

The repair HAS to work there is no choice! It seems like the diaphragm is around $135- $150. Therefor, one of the repairs has to work.
