whats best? was just going to replace the OEM shocks with some shorter solid struts probably 8-10 inch whichever gives safest clearance when im sitting on it.....but wondered if any other options??

Solid struts aren't a real good idea. Yes, I went that route to see how it would ride and ended up removing them the same day. You back and butt will pay the price in time.
I decided to shorten the shocks instead, which is a hell of alot better. It fairly easy to do and rides great with 1" of the spring removed.

Mods want to make a sticky on lowerng the bikes?

Harley sportster shocks are popular, also pushing the forks up a l'il bit to level it out.

If you can find shocks from a Suzuki Savage they work nicely and are about 2" shorter than the stock ones on your bike.

i cut my shocks 1.5, then bent the last half of coil flat wich made the springs overall 2" shorter.

i like it, but i never rode it before so i cant comment on the ride. with the adjuster all the way up it has about 2" of travel, and down it has about 1" before bump stop, but i only weigh 135 lbs. so if you are heavier you might not want to chop them that much.
