My stock xj550 Maxim mirror is loose enough at the swivel it won't stay in place. I don't see any obvious fix. Some websites suggest locktight.

Anyone have a remedy they have tried that holds but still allows adjustment of the mirror?

Obviously something like epoxy could be used, but that would lock the mirror permanently.

Superglue. I haven't done this with an XJ miror, but it worked on my '75 Celica.

Carefully pop the ball out of the socket. Clean and degrease the socket. Put a few drops of any good CA glue into the socket and swirl it around to coat the socket. DO this a few times to build up a good layer of glue. Pop the ball back in and see how she fits. You may need to repeat the process a few times until you get a good fit.

"Pop it out", does it just pull out?
