Been riding the XJ to work the past few weeks cause the Ninja was outta gas and been to busy to run it to the gas station during the evening (so i don't have to rush in the morning to make it to work on time). Well this morning was COLD (32 degrees) but finally dry after some of the wet and windy weather we've been having the past week so i crank up the XJ and head to work. I park the bike in my work parking lot and reach to turn the key off and notice the plastic YAMAHA emblem below the key is missing :!: Boy i was miffed, i feel pretty fortunate that my XJ has most of the original parts after all these years but it's one thing to break down but another to have parts FALL OFF the bike. My guess it was cold enough for the plastic to shrink enough for the emblem to pop out of the handlebar cover. I kept my eyes open during my 11 mile ride home and it's amazing how many little things "look" like my precious little black emblem but no luck. It could be anywhere like in the ditch on that side road, on the shoulder of the interstate, or even in kids pocket as they luckily happen upon it as they walk to and from school. I'm gonna try the next few days to find it but i don't have much hope since it's so small. If i don't find it by this weekend then all hope will be lost as we are expecting some more rain and more then likely it will be washed away. :(

I've seen some of you guys post some alternative ideas to filling that gap in the handlebar cover but for now i'll hang on to what glimmer of hope i have for now.

One of our members makes replacement emblems/placards, give the forums a search. He sent me a few to pick from but I've not got his particulars here at work. Thursday perhaps, I'm in class tonight.
