I have a stock headlight in my '85 Maxim 700XJN. Only the high beam works right now. When I switch it to low beam there is no beam.

Do I need a new bulb? Or is it some evil wiring problem I have to get to the bottom of?

If I need a new bulb, where is the best place to get one? Any better bulbs out there that I can replace it with? What's a good price? Any internet links would be helpful.

    Thanks!

Pull the headlight, the ground of your headlight to the negative terminal of your battery. Connect the positive terminal to each of the other two leads. If it lights up both filaments, I'd suggest voltage drop testing.

    Pull the Bulb.
Examine it with a magnifying glass if needed.
    The problem may be obvious.

    Use a Multi-meter on it.
The problem may not be obvious.

    Use an Automotive Test Light.
Test for +12V at the Bulb Socket with the Switch in all positions.
    It may be the Switch.

Try a New Bulb, ... what the heck!
