I'll rant along with ya KAOS. Don't bother moving to Florida- - MAJOR "Harley State" here! In the late 90's Harley had about 40% market share, even beating Honda, so, the're EVERYWHERE!

My beef is that some of these guys get a decked out Harley to show off how RICH they are, while others ride one to become somebody that they are NOT (like a cool, badass biker) the fakes!

I think at this time we all live in a Harley state. I live in the Sturgis State for God's sake.

But, times are-a-changin'. At the last HD board meeting it was announced that harley sales were down 29% last year and expects to be down another 20% this year, although sale are sharply up out side the US. That is why HD R&D is almost solely focused on the export market and now have 2 bikes in production that are fasioned after American bikes, flat trackers, that are not available in the states and probably never will be. Some Harley diehards are screaming foul and feeling unheard in the board room. The new XR1200 is probably the only Harley I would find any interest in and I can't buy one if I felt so inclined.

I think Harley needs to start inovating. Even Buell has seen the need to put a Rotax in one of it's bikes and I think you will see more of that in their future. Maybe a Rotax in a HD? No but something may need to change, they can start with the price.

By the way, I rode a Buell Ulysses X12XT last week and hated to like it, if it had the Rotax under the saddle I would consider it but it doesn't and no word on wether it will be or not.

I actually own my first Harley (basket case at this time) and I am still in the build stage. I have to say with all the ranting and raving about Harleys I have yet to see a site more dedicated and active as this one is for the XJ's. I think it is all just an overblown mistique in the name that has people going. It will be a long while before I get the Harley up and running but I do love the ride/build. Other than that the only people I have got any back talk from are on crotch rockets.
