For some reason I keep searching and can't find any info on regular maintence on my 1980 yamaha maxim 650. Mainly looking for what fluids are recomended and how much.
    Shaft Fluid
    Engine/Tran Fluid
    Front Fork Fluid
    Brake Fluid
    Any more?

    Thanks!

Engine oil: Motorcycle specific conventional 20W50 (or 10W30 when it's cold out.) NO CAR OIL and avoid synthetics.

Forks: Fork oil of your choice; 10W is factory recommended but you'll probably find 15W more to your liking.

    Brake fluid: DOT 3.

Final drive "pumpkin" SAE80 API GL4 Hypoid gear oil.

All of this is covered in the service manual that you are going to need.

Valve clearances need regular attention; your thirty year old brakes and clutch will demand it soon.

Hopefully you've visually inspected your rear brake shoes for the signs of delamination. READ: http://xjbikes.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=15874.html
