bought the rebuild kit for my 80 maxim 650. put everything back the way it was, have haynes manual as well.... when the plunger gets pressed in, it sucks in rather than pushes air. is this normal? do i have to add fluid from caliper? please help cuz im screwed. i press and press and nothing flows to banjo bolt. only thing i can think of is reversing fluid from bleeder screw.... first time ive ever delt with bike brakes... always working on cars :\

Sometime takes a loooong time to get flowing, I put the shop vac onto the bleed screw at the calliper & suck, tape a small tube into the vac hose & keep an eye in the fluid level at the MC.

If it's working properly & you have the hose banjo off, if you put some fluid in the resevoir & pull the lever it should push out fluid, if it doesn't do this you have fitted the wrong kit, or put the rubber seals in round the wrong way.

Are you trying to "bench bleed the mc? I ask because of you saying you had car experience. No need to try to "bench bleed" on motorcycle. Fill reservoir and begi bleeding....careful theses tiny reservoirs will run out much quicker than car.

Is it possible you put the piston in there backwards?

rubber seals the wrong way like the wiz says.

i don't think you CAN bench bleed. i'm not aware of anything to use like how a car works.

like the wiz also says. put the thing on. and suck it through the brake bleeder with a vacuum pump.

Thats the easiest way snowwy. I just rebuilt mine a week or so ago and bled with the lever without much trouble. A mityvac or some other type vacuum pump is definitely the ticket. If not pumping something has to be installed wrong
