    Don't bother taking it out.
Just clean it with a strong shot of BrakeKleen.
It there's crud on it, ... tooth brush or Q-Tips.

Remove the screw and check to see if there is a c-clip on the bottom of the m/c (where the wires come out thru the grommet); if so, remove c-clip, and then push entire assembly (and wires) up thru the floor of the m/c.

thanks! yea there was alot of crud in there you couldn't even see the indent in the bottom like you can in this pic, ill pic the rest out slowly but surely.

i just did the rear brake shoes (finally) they had the original OEM yamaha stamped shoes :) i put a cheap pair in there for now, (stupid EMego brand didnt even come with springs, grrr) gonna be doin the tire here soon so ill put the ebcs on while im doing that.

shes been down since december 2012, done over $1,200 in parts to her. the brake are the last thing as far as major stuff goes, might be able to ride this year after all lol!

i must say that i like the XS master cylinders better, due to the removal of the reservoir.

I have both and XS and an XJ... that is one of the two things I like better about the XS... otherwise the XJ wins hands down IMHO
