So I picked up a 1980 xj 650 maxim a week ago and I am trying to get it going within the next week as the weather is turning nice around here. My last big problem is that the bike came with a torn down master cylinder in a box to replace the ripped apart one on the bike. I have no clue how to put this thing back together and I am not willing to play trial and error with the braking system. If some one has instructions on how to put this thing together please speak up.

Tiny, I'll try to help you out. I don't know how far along your assembly is but if not already on the piston, the rubber seals go on the piston before you install. 1. you shoul have a spring, that goes in the housing first. 2. then install the piston with seals installed next. 3. then install the circlip to hold everythin in place ( they are a beach to install & remove). 4. after cirlip is in install the dust boot & your ready to put her back on the bike.
After all that fill her up with brake fluid & start the bleeding process.
    Hope this helps.

Another tip, if you don't have a shop manual you need to get one.
    Good luck,
    Gregg
