Little Back Story: I bought my 82 Yamaha XJ650 a a little over 2 years ago. I always knew I wanted to customize her, but I was unsure if I wanted to go Chopper, Bobber, or Cafe? I ended up going Bobber and slowly started to do that. I removed the front fenders, cut the rear, had a single-seat welded on and added drag bars and 2in risers.

Than I got deployed to Afghanistan.

But now I'm back and I want m bike done before next summer. My issue now is the handlebar controls and levers on said handlebars. Right now my main issue is the Master Cylinders, mine seems to be fused together and the screws seem to have become part of the box itself. I know I've seen some bikes without it and have seen some with aftermarket types. So I'm wondering if its necessary to have and/or is it better to go aftermarket or OEM?

It's a vital part of the front brake so yes it's necessary to have one.

What you use is up to you; you need to consider front brake light wiring and capacity/displacement/bore if you go aftermarket vs. OEM.

Running without Front Brakes is insanity.
A Panic Stop with Rear Brakes makes the Front-end want to be where the Back-end is.
You can get sideways in a blink of an eye.

A Stock MC may not fit aftermarket Bars.
You may need to acquire an MC made to mount your new Bars.
