    OK Max 400 owners,

My centerstand apparently hits the exhaust while up, discovered after a test ride today (1st of the season woohoo after start-up drama yesterday )

Anyways as they were fairly dented on the left side and a bad rust spot on the right I painted them up with some high heat paint (after filling the dents)

Soooo can someone get be a pic of what stops the stand from coming into the exhaust? I have some nice chips in my fresh paint from it hitting and bouncing while riding.

There is a round rubber bumper that "plugs" into a welded-on bracket on the right muffler can that serves as a "rest" point for the centerstand when it's up.........it's a pretty universal bumper, I think the one we offer for the XJ models is the same as the one on your bike......

Thanks chacal, now I have a starting point, I looked at the bumpers on Mixes XS as a reference, then figured I'd check out the parts fiche.......
Well my exhaust are different than those in there.... they show a crossover pipe joining them underneath as well..... I do not have....

AND, the only brackets welded to the mufflers are the ones used to mount to the frame brackets.... looks like I 'll need to mod up something there.....
I should be able to suspend a "bumper bracket" from there.....

I had to make my own when I put the Harley mufflers on mine. The center stand would hit the muffler on the left side. I used a piece of 1" flat stock and bent it in an L-shape, then bolted it on to the same bol that held the muffler bracket on. It goes down just behind the muffler and makes a 90* bend out, just under the muffler to the center stand hits it before hitting the muffler. I glued a rubber knob on the bottom so it won't 'bang" when I put it up.

    Awesome, thanks for the tip....
I'll have to sift through some odds and ends and see what I got to work with.
