I'm doing a clutch kit on my maxim 650 this winter. What I need to know is the least expensive way to go for a good clutch kit? Thanks. Happy turkey day everyone!

If you go to your local yamaha dealer they do sell aftermarket clutch kits. I looked up some friction plates and springs at my local dealer and the prices are $77 for the plates and $10 for the springs they are ebc brand. you should't need to replace your steel plates unless they are warped or blued. I got lucky and won a set of genuine yamaha friction plates last winter on ebay for $35. That is probley about the best you can do. I would also check in with chacal and see what he has.

    I'll second that.

Get a set of "aftermarket" friction plates and OEM springs from chacal; I would also recommend replacing the bolts and washers too, they're vital and cheap. Clean up the plain plates with Scotchbrite and as long as they're not warped or burnt blue, you'll be good to go.
