I recently was on a longer trip with my 750 Maxim. It would have been nice to not have to stop for gas so often. I wonder if anyone has a picture of a Maxim with a Seca gas tank on it? Thanks.

The 750 maxim tank is the same capacity as the seca tank. You will not gain anything doing the swap unless it is for appearance reasons. Even then the side covers and seat will not match the tank correctly

I'm not sure you are right about that. My research shows the 750 Seca tank to hold more, 4.7 gals. vs 3.4 gals. for the Maxim.

Different tank - what else fits?

Larger Tank for 82 Maxim 750 (US)
    quoting from above link
The Seca 750 has a 4.5 gallon (useable; 4.75 actual) fuel tank.

    removed inaccurate data

    edit for correction of specs

    fiveofakind
Per Service Manual for 1982 XJ750J Maxim
Tank Capacity: 17L (3.74 Imp gal., 4.49 US Gal )
Reserve Amount: 4.1L (0.9 Imp gal., 1.08 US Gal )

Where ever you got your info from is incorrect. Read the rest of the link you provided. It is the 650 Maxim tank that is 3.5 gallon.
The 750 Maxim tank is the same capacity as the seca tank and is the common larger tank upgrade for the 650 Maxim.

    What Ghost said.

OP, what sort of mileage are you getting? I find that I only have to stop for fuel every 150 miles or so (about every two-hours), which is just about when I need to stop for other reasons.

I've been getting about 40-42 mpg. My fuel light starts blinking at around 120-125 miles. Thinking I am close to being out of gas, I fuel up, once putting in 3.2 gallons, thinking I only have a 3.5 gallon tank.

The 750 tank has just over 1 gallon reserve. Your fuel light will start blinking to indicate the need to switch to reserve. You should get another 45-50 miles out of the tank easily.

No fuel light on the 83 750 Maxim so I have to go by mileage on the trip meter. At 150 miles I start waiting for the cut out to signal for reserve.

mostly I was pointing op to the needed threads but
    I was quoting
    sorry for the confusion

but I also see what fiveofakind stated
Per Service Manual for 1982 XJ750J Maxim

Tank Capacity: 17L (3.74 Imp gal., 4.49 US Gal )
Reserve Amount: 4.1L (0.9 Imp gal., 1.08 US Gal )
