1986 Maxim X. The bike revs a little when I turn the bars so I figured a simple freeplay adjustment was in order. The problem is that the adjustment at the twist grip is already fully loosened and I don't see any other adjustment on the cable. Am I missing something or maybe an after market throttle cable??

Check that the cable is routed properly.
It could be that something is taking up the slack.
I route mine straight out beside the tank/frame and not through the forks or anything else.

Thanks CDS. I've checked the routing and it's correct per the factory shop manual. The bike is a garage queen with only 24,000km (15,000 miles)on it and the cable looks like new. It seems weird to me that the only adjustment for cable freeplay is at the twist grip. I think I've found a solution that'll work. [IMG]
