OK, yet another question.. thanks everyone for being so helpful thus far.

On this '83 XJ900 I have been working on: I have a misfire during hard throttle at higher rpm's, like when I'm running hard through the gears. It feels like one cylinder is cutting out slightly.

    I have:

    - cleaned the carbs twice including the Clunk Test recommended procedures
    - pilot screws set at 2-3/4 turns plus or minus a couple degrees
    - float levels checked per the service manual (using the clear tubing). I had two out of adjustment and they have been corrected.
    - new plugs
    - checked timing - right on the dot
    - new vacuum line from the intake to the pet cock
    - valve clearance adjustment (required one shim change-out)
    - OE airbox
    - OE air filter
    - stock exhaust system
    - fresh fuel 93 octane (I completely cleaned out the tank and sealed it)

Starts fine when cold without even having to full-choke it.

I have not done a carb synch check yet, but that's coming soon as I can get to it.

Also, when I just crack the throttle like cruising in 3rd gear it seems to want to hesitate a bit. Just a bit, though.

So, besides doing a carb synch, any ideas of what to check next? Thanks.

Until you synch the engine, everything else will be just a guess...........!

Yea, that's what I was thinking. I was just looking to see if I missed anything. Thanks.
