Hey any of you Mod Tekkies out there I have a question. Im installing an R1 rear swing arm and R1 rear tire to my 550 Maxim. Of course im going to have an off set sprocket situation, Im windering if I should build a Jackshaft (would be mounted at the original swing arm pivot point) or run an offset sprocket with bearing support on the out side? I noticed on the inside of the cover of the 550 Maxim there is a boss for what looks like a bearing lined up with the sprocket shaft. That being the case I could build a spacer to move the cover out, extent the shift rod and foot peg.

These are some pics I took to get an Idea of the position of the swing arm. looks like the chain (judging by the chain guide is only a 1/2 inch into the Maxim frame). easy to move out the frame. there is allot of adjustment on the R1 swing arm pivot shaft. also its kinda early to tell being I didn't have the rear axle tightened down and equalized settings. I still need to find out the thickness of the R1 swing arm to frame mount bushing thickness. with the stretch of this system some off set might not be very noticeable, I could possibly just weld on the R1 front sprocket with spacer to the Maxim sprocket and get away with it? In pic 2 you can see the round boss as if its for a bearing, its lined up concentric withe the out put shaft for the sprocket, also you can see 4 threaded bungs on the back side of the cover that have nothing in them? what was Yamaha thinking when the installed the bearing boss and threaded bungs?
