hey was wondering if there was any way to make it mor powerfull besides the obvious exhaust and carb settings also will a 82 650 frame work for a maxim 750 of same year?

A 130+mph bike that will run sub-12 second quarter miles is too slow?

And yes you can transplant an '82 750 Maxim engine into an '82 650 Maxim frame with ease; just keep the carbs and ignition with the motor.

Start screwing with the stock intake (airbox) and exhaust and you'll likely slow it down though.

I agree with Fitz. the 650's actually seem to run better with a stock intake system. i tried messing with mine and was less than impressed

the 650's really run 130+ mph??? maybe i should get out and ride sometime other than commuting to work haha...

Fyi these are not Harleys or crotch rockets. "OBVIOUS" Carb and exhaust mods do not make them better.

4-1 exhausts will make them lighter, but MAY require rejetting just to get them running smooth again.

Rejetting just to rejet is kinda pointless on the xjs.

PODS look cool but many have to rejet several times to get it mostly smooth. (Some have great luck and/or don't know how the ran stock with perfectly synced and cleaned carbs).

How much faster than 100+ you NEED to go on a CRUISER? even 2up with full luggage + fairing (~450 extra pounds), I could accelerate to 70 with plenty more power left and keep up with the LOUD Harleys. :)

Alwasy ride with a good stiff tail wind...

Other than that, do a search for fuel inject (here), or get more air/fuel through through with various methods (try not to burn things up), or this guy sells cams which if you have the skills (I don't) *might* make a difference (I am not an expert): www.megacyclecams.com
