    Greetings from the UK - my question is

    After synchronising the carbs at idle ( 1050 rpm ) should, if the bike is set up correctly, the curbtune rods rise in line as the rev increase ??

    As the rev increase on my bike, they initially drop but then rise BUT not equally.

    If they are supposed to rise together, what does this say about my set-up ( bike runs fine but not spot on ) would it be beneficial to its performance to tweak the idling synch to improve the levels at say 2000 rpm ?

    I believe the book has you sync at 1500rpm but I would have to check.

    This is the result of your 4 cylinders not being exactly "perfect" and the carbs are synced (or really UN-synced) to match the needs of your engine.

    I can check my 650 book when I get home; it does specify an RPM in the sync procedure.

    Red non yics is synced at 1050 from the manual. Did you adjust the valves yet? Float levels checked?

    Yes, he did the valves...... that's what he said. He was waiting for a shim to arrive to complete the job. He got the shim, finished the job and is now having a syncing issue.

    Yes, he checked the float levels. That's what he said. He checked them, and re-checked them. Several times.

    If you're still unsure, re-read the whole thread.

    FWIW, I remember 1,100 was the RPM to sync with. I have the Morgan as well and love it.

    Very slick...

    So do I. Love my Morgan;

    and my factory manuals. Good thing I looked.

    Sync speeds:

    For the (non-YICS) 650, the book has you sync at 1050rpm; set idle at 1050rpm. (The 650/750 YICS motors may be different, I don't have that book.)

    For the 550, the book has you sync at 1000~1100rpm, set idle at 1200rpm.

    Now I've gotta dig up my EGA book, that may have been where I remember 1500 from.
