so the motor mount bolt in the back that goes all the way through both rear foot rests..... to make a short story long..... because i love my xj.. :D...... im slowly ratting her out. i have a 4 into 1 pipe on her that i just added a sportster muffler to. i love the look, but have a second sporty muffler kicking around. i was going to weld it in, but had two issues... 1, is the two pipes, both having baffles going to let "too much" air out without enough back pressure??? (the mufflers would be on the same side off the same single pipe, and two.... i need to remove the assy. that holds on the rear foot peg.. when i remove it, will there be need for a washer in between the front foot peg and the mount bolt, or is the mount bolt threaded enough to where it would pull it all in? would like to be prepped before stuck! thanks guys

    Hi IfOnly,
I was thinking... "ifonly" I could work out this question I could answer it and I think I have! Woot! well maybe... If I do assume(no bike type in your signature) you have a XJ750ish type of frame with the alloy rear foot-peg hangers.

Your Question: I think the 2nd question is about the front footpeg assembly, the rear engine mount bolt that goes through it and holds it on and the alloy rear footpeg hanger.
My Answer: If you have a SECA(all I know about) type of frame the rear engine mount bolt is not associated to the rear footpeg hanger so it wont be affected because you wont have to touch it to remove the alloy rear footpeg hangar!

Your Question: The first question is almost along the same lines as will pods affect anything as well as will changing the back pressure of the exhaust change anything?
My Answer: yes! if you look at the way fuel is introduced and controlled into the combustion chamber you will notice it's all based on pressure/vacuum so... if you change how fast the pressure escapes or is introduced it all gets a bit weird! It's all fixable but if you want it to work like out of the factory, without having to re-tune the system, try and keep the amount of restriction to flow going in and flow going out the same as original no matter the cosmetic alteration.

If you have a maxim, atleast an 81 like mine, the bolt goes all the way through and does not have enough threads to remove the pegs and brackets.

If you change the intake or the exhaust or both you may or may not have to rejet. Try it and see is the only real way to know for sure. Don't wreck your other parts and you can always go back.
