I'll keep an eye out for ya.
I'm buying a car in Sydney and bringing it back to Brisbane.
Slim odds but I'll notice any bike let alone an XJ.
I'll be in a green Camry.
The 900 will be fine your butt might be a bit sore, have to wear it in.

First off, I'm jealous you are able to go for a long ride. I'm afraid a trip to the end of the street would result in atleast 3 drops to the ice. I've been thinking about strudded tires but I don't have a frien in the ice racing field to steal them from.

Second, Hound, Take a ride on one of those Triumph Tigers. I sold my 02 2 years ago and have missed it since. They were one of the best dual sports made I think. That 955 motor at at least 104 HP would tromp the poop out of the Yammy.

I love our bikes but there is a fair bit of compitition out there.

    Enjoy the ride Albear.

great_buffalo, u hit the nail on the head, old mates bike is i think its a early 2008 model, blue in colour, with a bit of custom painting,I thought had a picture on my puta but no
On saturday i will try & take some pictures of various views, the weather forcast is partly cloudy clearing to a fine day, with a high of around 38*c.(around 100*f)getting close to very hot with huidty around 95%
Question when the season is summer what temp does it get upto&what PPE (personal protective equioment do u wear,ie jacket leather or textile all season or a summer ? dragin jeans or simaliar(/) it is late ) & only just having my first beer boots ,gloves etc) to cope with the heat.
i have to look at getting a summer jacket (flow thru ventalation) I can not many over here at all any hints(in the very large sizes)
tks for the imput :D 8)

For the ultimate proctection, I think you can't beat simple, dead cow skin. However, I also believe that unless you're riding with a bunch of hot-doggers, that a quality textile jacket with armour pads, that's vented is perfectly acceptable. Mine has spinal pads, elbows and shoulders.

Textile pants or draggin' jeans are a good idea. They sell them with knee and tailbone pads as well. Gloves...it's gonna be hot for you. I wonder if you could find a vented textile glove, or a lighter leather glove of a lighter color that will reflect the sun somewhat.

Hope your helmet's vented too. :) Anyway, all of this is my opinion. I'm a new-ish rider and I haven't wrecked yet but that's the stuff I'm wearing.

On top of that, I'm in the military and the military bases require that I wear a neon-yellow reflective vest when I ride on post so I bought one of those as well. I look like a nerd, but I think it'd be good to wear in fog or other foul weather.

You know something Sushi, I think a nerd in yellow looks a lot better than a cool dude biker who has just been hit by a car! One of the things the Motorcycle Safety Foundation stresses in their course is conspicuity. Make yourself seen. I think I'll go get one of those vest for daytime use. My riding jacket has 3M retro-reflective tape on it as do my pants but they are worthless in the daytime.

The newer models of the Tiger have shifted from dual sport to more of an on road adventure bike and a little less aggresive. Still very cool.

    Albear,
If you head over to advrider.com and go to their Fleamarket you will find some great deals on riding gear from some of the inmates there

    Wamaxim-

Here's the model I bought (by ICON). It has strategically placed storage in it. They also make a model with an integrated backpack.

The old pacific h/way was awesome, got to pie in the sky & there was a cop in a light green commodore giving a bloke a good talking to for about 1/2 hour  ,then the cop took of in a north direction, after a pie & a cool drink,he came back for another cruise from a southerly direction, then another 2 cops went cruising .we set off to homebush, got caught in traffic at hornsby&sweat just poured out of me(only have a all weather jacket,a summer jacket is on my shopping list)on we went ,took w wrong turn but got homebush to see a show, put our riding gear in tge cloak room at 1;30pm & collected it about 3;30pm my helmet was still dripping with sweat.
time to get out of the the place & of we went got to pennant hills to get some petrol, left there @ 4;45pm & got home to newcastle around 6.00pm.
Got the old xj900 upto 6100rpms which = around 160 klm.

Sounds like a good time. Riding in the blazing heat is still better then an air conditioned office.
