Hey guys, I'm putting my engine back together on my 1982 XJ650 Maxim. I have a part that I know (according to a part fiche) is supposed to be inside the clutch portion of the engine. I'm guessing it's a keep oil on the clutch instead of on the walls of the crankcase. I have no idea how to install this part and the manual doesn't mention the part at all. Can anybody, please help a brother out. If you go to https://www.partzilla.com/catalog/yamaha/motorcycle/1982/xj650j/crankcase-cover it part #24.

Do you have a Haynes manual for your bike?

No, I just the regular service manual from Honda. If anybody has a hayes manual with this part mentioned, can you kindly take a photo possibly?

The picture seems deceptive to me. It's one of those things that is not obvious but you will probably slap your head after you see it.

I think I have the parts sitting around at home - I could get a picture after work.

Here are some pictures that show the oil pump cover (4H7-15412) sitting in the crankcase, as well as sitting by the clutch cover that also has a couple of little tabs that hold the oil pump cover in place when installed.

A Honda manual won’t help. Get the correct Yamaha manual

I'm not sure why I said Honda. I have the correct one for my bike. It still never even mentions this part at all, unless I totally missed it.
