I was installing a jet kit in my dad's XJ-750 today and ran into problems. The bike has been basically sitting for the last 8 years ~ 200 miles in that time. Of course the carbs were clogged up but there was a very small washer and O-ring in each carbs that was messed up. The Yamaha web site doesn't show it on the micro-fiche. It is the washer and o-ring that is under the idle mixture screw......the one you are supposed to turn all the way in and then back out 3 turns.

    Can you help?
    Thank you!

Thanks for the links, but they are not there. I can't believe the idle mixture screw is not listed........or I am blind.

I have looked but the washers at McMaster-Carr don't have the right i.d. and o.d. The i.d. needs to be 3mm and the o.d. 5mm

Did some investigating and found this.
    Pilot mixture screw washer dimensions:

    Inches
    I.D. .118
    O.D. .171
    thickness .022

    Metric
    I.D. 3mm
    O.D. 5mm
    Thk. .56mm
    McMaster-Carr part# 99040A316
    has the following dimensions:

    Inches:
    I.D. .125
    O.D. .187
    Thk. .016
Although thinner it looks close enough. They are $7.25 for a pack of 25.

No disrespect, BlueMaxim, but I don't think "close enough" will work in this case, because the tolerances are so very close. We're talking about a VERY tiny washer going into a VERY tiny space; and the mixture screw set does some very fine metering of fuel.

If I may offer a suggestion to try and look up your part(s) at MotorcycleCarbs.com and if you don't see them, or can't find them, call the number posted on the site. I swear they can find any part for any carb made. They aren't the cheapest, but they are good.

Tolerance with this part is not as close when it comes to the thickness, which is what I was refering to. The I.D. must be loose enough over the mixture screw shaft and O.D. loose enough inside the well. The main concern for thickness is that it withstand the stress of the spring. Main purpose of the washer is to keep the spring from damaging the oring. Even if the washer was flexible it should still provide a strong enough barrier to protect from the spring.
However if he can find the OEM part I highly recommend it!
