    Tisn't cheap, but they can be had...

    -----------

    Right Side Control Switches:

    HCP455 OEM right side CONTROL SWITCH, brand new original units features the starter pushbutton and the igniton cut-out OFF-RUN-OFF selector lever. Included is the wiring harness with proper end connector, and it's finished with the original low-gloss-black paint. Fits all XJ550 models and all XJ650 (except Turbo) models.

    $ 89.95

    Left Side Control Switches:

    HCP458 OEM left side CONTROL SWITCH, brand new original unit features the horn pushbutton, the turn signal selector, the headlight hi-lo beam selector switch, and the choke swivel lever. Finished in the original low-gloss-black paint. Fits all XJ550 models and all XJ650 (except Turbo) models. See NOTE below regarding the wiring harness that comes with this control switch.

    $ 89.95

    NOTE regarding the wiring harness that comes with the HCP458 switch above: although the housing and switches, levers, etc. on this unit are the same as original, it does NOT come with the correct molded plastic harness terminal connector.

    It has the full complement of 7 correct color-code wires, but each wire is terminated with a male bullet connector. It comes with matching female bullet connectors and plastic sheaths, and it is intended that you cut your original harness terminal off and use the crimp-on connectors instead. So, you have one of three options:

    a) cut up your main harness, and use the supplied female bullets with this switch in order terminate the wires on your main harness, or...

    b) cut off the wire leads to your original plastic terminals, leaving enough wire to solder onto, and then solder/shrink wrap each lead wire from this replacement switch onto your original terminal.

    c) Alternatively, you could cut off the terminals, and then add the female bullets to the lead wires to those terminals, and plug the male bullets into those newly added female bullets.

    My recommendation is that you do NOT cut up your original main wiring harness. I would rather modify the harness lead wires on this new switch, rather than cut up a main harness!

    Now hear this, updated info alert:

    Left Side Handlebar Control Switches:

    HCP458 OEM left side CONTROL SWITCH, brand new original unit features the horn pushbutton, the turn signal selector, the headlight hi-lo beam selector switch, and the choke swivel lever. Finished in the original low-gloss-black paint. Fits all XJ550 models and all XJ650 (except Turbo) models. See NOTES below regarding the wiring harness that comes with this control switch.
    $ 89.95

    NOTES regarding the wiring harness that comes with the HCP458 switch above: although the housing and switches, levers, etc. on this unit are the same as original, it does NOT come with the correct molded plastic harness terminal connector.

    It has the full compliment of 9 correct color-code wires, but each wire is terminated with an individual male bullet connector....the two original plastic terminal connector "blocks" are not included. The switch comes with matching female bullet connectors and protective plastic sheaths, and it is intended that you cut your original harness-side terminal connector off and install the crimp-on female bullet terminals instead. I do not recommend doing this! Leaving your main wiring harness intact is an important issue, in my mind, and that is the optimal solution-----but it will take a minor amount of extra effort on your part! (meaning: about 30 minutes of time and a soldering iron).

    So, you have one of four options:

    a) cut up your main harness, and use the female bullets already supplied with this switch to terminate the wires on your main harness (after you---cringe---cut off your original main harness plastic connector block), or........

    b) Cut the wire leads off from your original plastic connector block, leaving enough wire to solder onto, and then solder/shrink wrap each lead wire from this replacement switch onto your original connector.

    c) Alternatively, you could cut off your original switch plastic connector block---leaving some wire length coming off the connector----and then crimp the female bullets to these lead wires to those terminals, and plug the male bullets into those newly added female bullets.

    d) But we believe that the best solution is to purchase our replacement male pin terminals HCP9326 and female pin receiver terminals HCP9327. With these components, you can cut off the included "bullet" style connectors on this replacement switch, and crimp and solder onto those lead wires the correct metal male (6) and female (3) terminal pins and receivers, and then insert those pins into your original plastic harness connector blocks (obviously, you will have to cut off those connector blocks from your original switch, and strip the original wires and terminal pins out of them, but that is not difficult to do, just a little time consuming!) Using this solution, you do not have to modify your original main wiring harness at all.

    HCP9326 Aftermarket wiring metal PIN TERMINAL, round male pin is used in a variety of bikes in different places on the harness. NOTE that this is a rounded-tip "pin" and not a "bullet" style terminal. You will need six (6) of these for the large plastic connector block and their wires. Each:
    $ .95

    HCP9327 Aftermarket wiring metal PIN TERMINAL, round female pin receiver is used in a variety of bikes in different places on the harness. NOTE that this is for the rounded-tip male "pin" and not the "bullet" style terminal. You will need three (3) of these for the smaller plastic connector. Each:
    $ .95
