Does anyone happen to have a couple of exhaust valves from an '82 XJ1100J that they can get rid of?
Turns are I did manage to bend a couple while doing some maintenance...

Makes me wonder if it is possible to straighten slightly bent valves? Seems like if you chucked one in a lathe and lightly tapped then checked then tapped then check you could get it straightened out...
    Anyone ever tried it?

there are a couple new ones on ebay, but you should probably pick up this head instead...

these guys could probably make what you need...

if they are very slightly bent, you could probably have a machinist regrind the seat faces. I would not recommend hitting them with a hammer.

You can straighten a bent valve, and it will work....right up to the point where it fails and grenades your engine. It's not a trick that I would recommend using unless there is a pile of cash for you if you finish first, or you're stuck deep in the woods.

These are barely bent...you wouldn't even notice it unless you roll them on something flat and look real close...but I am a bit concerned about having distressed the metal when I bent them

The valves and guides are a close fit. Isn't the 1100 a one year model? Imo replace them.

A lot of valves are made in two pieces and any time they are bent no matter how small is the start of them failing and dropping the head off

I decided to buy a used head off of Ebay. It was about $100 shipped and should either be usable or have enough parts that I can make some combination work.
