ok, guys i built a atv using a 550 maxim. i had pictures of it up on this site a few monthes ago. well, i have the time now to acually get the damn thing running, so here is the situation......
i will not be running headlights, blinkers, brake/tail lights on this atv. so....since all those parts are off the cycle. i am working with what seems like radio instuctions over here. the bike ran before i converted to atv body, and wires were all labelled and placed where they came from. when i use a volt meter on a fuse in the fuse box it reads 12.50 volts. also, there are only 2 fuses in the fuse box, and the second fuse has no power to it. should it? i took it out and it looked fine. i will replace it tommorow just in case. so,i have 12.50 volts from the battery to my starter selenoid. and on the back of the selenoid there are three 2 wire plugs, and one small bolt and nut for the wire to my starter. well when i was grounded to the battery with the volt meter, and touched it to the two small plugs on the selenoid, i got like 00.11 volts. wtf? then if i press the starter button to try to get the selenoid to click, it flucuates minorly. i also have a toggle switch hooked up to hot and cold to use instead of the key assembly that came off the bike. also i have my clutch handle attached, but not the cable. do i need the cable to engage the "safety" in order to get the seloniod to click? i see two other relays too, and one clicks and the other does not. maybe there is a simple wiring diagram someone can send me. all i need on this atv is a toggle to send power to starter relay, and then use the factory start button to engage starter. can anyone help me?

thanks for the diagram, i just got rid of my starter relay cause i think it was bad, and baught a ingition key with a relay biult in. now i can get it to turn over but have no spark. i have new plugs. i tested the wires going to the coils and have none. so i think the power would go from the tci box? im not much for reading diagrams but looking at yours i see a red and white wire comming from the tci box plug, and also have red and white wires going to each coil. damn i am so close.

Do you have an airbox or pods hooked up to the carbs?
How about any kind of exhaust?

My guess is that since the intake and exhaust are so whacked up, the jetting is so far off that it can't keep lit.

I'd be willing to bet you'd have a lot better luck keeping it running with the aforementioned items installed...or something similar.

i have no filter on the carbs right now, but that should not matter. my buddy has a 750 maxim and its does not have them on, also he has str8 headers, like i do. those items may change performance in certain ways, but im not sure if it would not allow it to run. so far it only runs with starter fluid. i am going to get a carb rebuild kit. can anyone refer me to a good site for a decent price?

my friend's 550 ran with no filter and stock exhaust, and still runs with pods and straight headers
