Neutral lamp question: Solved

    My neutral lamp has just blown - 3.7w and I have a spare 5w lamp. it it ok to fit?

    The shops are shut and the bike is going for its MOT/roadworthy tomorrow morning!!!

    It will fit but you run the risk of melting your neutral lens. I'd use it but replace it straight away!

    No but I have had the bike off the road for so long - it's like learning to ride all over again. Just like to know where neutral is!

    As a point of interest, All UK bikes over 3 years old must pass the annual Ministry of transport test - which is reasonably strict. Also, the bike must be taxed (The equivalent of resgistering in the US) but you need the mot first.
    If the tax has expired, the bike must be declared "Off the road". If you ride the bike under this SORN declaration and get caught - they fine you heavily.

    The only time you can ride under a sorn is to the mot test centre (And back)!!

    Phew.

    WELL: I thought I'd temporarily fit the higher wattage lamp and started to disconnect my instrument cluster when I noticed a connector apart - funny, I thought, so I reconnected it and the neutral light works!
