    Gentlemen,
Can anyone advise me on putting in a neutral switch light?
Some of the old-skool types might look down their nose at having such a light. But it's what I'm used to and the 'modified' XJ550 I recently acquired has a bare minimum of lighting, i.e. front and back light, horn and rear brake switch light. Nothing more.
So... if the neutral switch is still in place, where is it and is it easy to get to?
If I can get to the switch, wiring it up shouldn't be too hard.
    Cheers!

the switch is located behind the front sprocket cover (the cover the gearshift lever comes out of) on the left side of the bike. Doubt if it was removed completely as it would require a blanking plate to keep all your oil from running out. It doesn't LOOK like a switch, it's a round (once off-white) plate about 1 1/2"-2" in diameter, with three "ears" where its mounting screws are. It may still have the wire connected to it. The switch itself is not all that expensive if you need to replace it, but be aware that removing it will cause oil to run out (enough that you will need to make a provision to catch it.)
