Instead of saying sh.t a bunch of times, how about expending some energy into applying the brakes. It was a sport bike for craps sake.

Some people should not be on 2 wheels, or any wheels for that matter.

on the rider from the uk if i am not mistaken "safe" lane splitting and "filtering" is taught and encouraged over there as a means to lessen traffic congestion.

ive often considered "filtering" at stop lights but have never been in enough of a hurry to do it.

Didn't watch the vid; don't need to. The title and replies explained it. Idiots have always and unfortunately will always exist in society. They are a intricate part of "humanity". Whatever and however "filtering" is being taught in the UK let's hope it doesn't include signing your own death certificate. For the record: motorcycles are not driven, they're ridden. Makes a big difference. Ride Safe.

    I despise lane splitting
it is a quick way to death
it gives people on 2 wheels a bad name and image
respect the road and others on it

Lane splitting is legal in Cali. There are still rules though. If the cars are stopped or almost stopped you can only go 10mph over the flow of traffic. A cop still might ticket you for unsafe driving if you are riding too aggressively. That idiot was riding like a fool even before he sandwiched himself. If he had slowed down to a crawl he might have made it through without destroying his bike. Personally, I won't split lanes on a freeway. On city streets I will do it only when there is enough room and the cars are completely stopped at a light.

Heh. :) Lane splitting / filtering is actually encouraged here as a safety measure in slow traffic. The idea is that cars don't crash into the back of your bike on the highway. Not at the speed that guy was driving though.

At my MSF first thing they tell us is STAY AWAY FROM TRUCKS and NEVER do what this guy in video did. PLUS he was splitting/weaving in and out of the traffic like a maniac to begin with.

I was taught that if traffic is going above 30 mph you don't split unless necessary to get out of blind spots or to avoid idiots.

I also like to say to myself "that spot is open...probably going to be a car spawning into that spot and approach with caution.

The guy on the R1 sure did cut down his commute time.
But he also had too much faith in the drivers sharing the road with him.

    Pucker Factor: 11

No WAY would I do that.
