black 83 XJ550 with 12k miles off craigs for just $600! Current title and only very recently expired reg. Can't wait to upload pics of this baby! This is a savior for my registration nightmare project 82 550.

WOOHOO! I've been restoring an 82 XJ550 for the last year or so. (weekend project) I've been going through the bike front to back. I've rebuilt the caliper, forks, fuel petcock, carbs, etc. etc. etc.

All this work done, come time to register the bike and.... uh oh, getting that new sticker turns about to be close to $650 with all the late and back registration fees. Not to mention trying to get a new title (previous owner lost it)

This 83 Bike has been sitting for a year, gas in the tank, (no rust!) think it will start? Haven't had a try yet due to dead battery. On the trickle charger now, going to test after work, going to read up on batteries right now.

Hoping it will start up so I can get it back to my workspace.

Good luck - sounds like your regs are pretty different to ours.

It depends on your local petrol, but here I'd expect it to be purring soon. Mind you, on old petrol I'd be using a car battery to jump it or expecting to have to push start it after a while sitting - or even, the dreaded easy start...
