So i bought a XJ400 seca 1982 as my first A2 motorbike. I understand its more rare model of XJ.

I was wondering how many parts are cross compatible? (XJ550, XJ650) Like clutch and brake cables etc. Or are they basically the same bike, but with just different sizes of cylinders?

Its much more akin to the 550 (and later 600) chain-drive bikes than the 650+ shaft drive bikes. Apart from the top-end engine parts I would
expect most bits to be interchangeable with teh more common (seca) 550s - which in any case is only actually 528 cc..
