Here is the newest member of the herd; 1982 XJ100. 36k miles. It is a rocket ship.

Agreed. The pipes look pristine and overall condition appears A+. Maybe they were scared and just kept in the garage and went out to start it once in a while.

I would ditch the M.mouse turn signals though.

    Nice score HalfCentury!

Agreed on the seat; from here the little bit of red piping or stitching looks great on the bike. And yeah, is all the chrome as nice as it looks in the pic? Score indeed.

The seat is a Corbin. It has an opening for a back rest between driver and passenger. The back rest is MIA

It was owned by two women who had it inside their shop when it was not on the road.

It has a good sized tank ding and the grab bar is twisted. It seems to run a little rough compared to my 650 after a carb rebuild and synch. I will check the valve clearances and sync the carbs and see how it runs after that.

Definitely think that I found a gem. I have been wanting this exact model for a long time.

The most recent owner bought it from the two women in Wisconsin and drove it to Virginia and then put it on Craigslist. I was lucky enough to be the first to meet with him. Bought it immediately.

The handle bars are 10x more ugly than the turn signals. I want 650 Maxim bars on this beast.

The bike has 36k miles so the POs definitely rode it plenty. My 650 Maxim only had 17k miles when I bought it.

The carb hats have zero pitting. Be jealous. Be very jealous.

    HC,

Maaaaaaaaan! Yeah, handle bar swap, granturismo grips, new s.s. mirrors, progressive shocks, all the other necessary maintenance and ride her like the "beast" she is. Very nice.

You should contact Corbin to see if you can get the back rest, I'm pretty sure that the seats are bike specific but the back rest will probably fit a whole bunch of seats.

Welcome from the mountains of VA. Very nice bike. You should be able to get a back rest seat for that from Corbin.
