I got another XJ tonight! One of the girls I work with sold it to me for all of $300. This one is a 1980 XJ650 Maxim with a few issues. Her boyfriend bought it for her so they could go riding together but she has zero interest in motorcycles. Now on to the issues... and hopefully a little help in a starting direction.

1.) Bike needs to be push started. I know it has a new battery so I was thing starter or bushings.

2.) No rear brakes. This one should be straight forward as I think they may just need to be replaced or adjusted.

Other than that the bike is in over all decent shape. If I can get it up and running here in a short amount of time I may finish off the riding season here with it. But if not I may just strip it to the frame and start rebuilding and painting everything as I want to turn it into a cafe racer this winter.

So does the starter turn over when you push the button?
If not it may be something as simple as a button switch.

You can get brake shoes on Fleabay for fairly cheap.

Why cant I find deals like that?
