Hey everyone... Just dropping in to say hello. Im new to the site and...what a site! just browsing through I can tell I will be on this site ALL the time. :) I have an 82 yamaha 750 maxim. This is my 3rd yamaha bike i have had. I have had a 75 yamaha xs650 then a yamaha virago 1100 and now the yamaha maxim 750. Love yamaha.

I would like to do some seat work on my bike... I just dont like how thick it looks. I would love to chop it and make it into a bobber im just to afraid to do it... If anyone has any ideas on how to upgrade my seat to make it look less bulky let me know.

Looking forward to interacting with this site.

It's your seat - you can do whatever you want. The cover is held on by a bunch of staples into the bottom of the plastic seat pan. You can remove them, shave off some foam until you like the look/feel, get some new marine vinyl and staple it over the re-shaped seat. You will need a heavy-duty (think pneumatic or HD electric) stapler and stainless steel staples. Or get a junk seat with a good pan to experiment. That way you can still ride while modifying and can bring it back to stock anytime.

Look in the Modified section to see lots of prior examples.

Welcome dykema, with a seat pan and your imagination you can create all sorts of stuff. Browse around the forums, xj mods for an example and you can get lots of ideas. Good luck with your build.
